Summit wins over Oakville 124-52 on Senior Recognition Night! Remember, tomorrow after school, we are hosting a girls team informational meeting in the pool bleachers for all Summit girls interested in swimming and diving.
Thursday, we defeated Vianney 98-82 and on Friday, we lost to Parkway West 124-59. After a nearing the state cut in the 200 free relay, we have yet to get that close again. We will continue to try to focus our efforts to get this relay to state as well but our opportunities are limited.
Our final dual meet of the season is against Oakville at home, and it is also our Senior Recognition Night. We will be recognizing seniors Mike Bassett, Justin Mars, Kyle McGinnis, and Timmy Mitchell. Additionally, please check your email for an invitation via Evite for our Awards Banquet on Nov 11 beginning at 6:30pm at Andre's West in Fenton. The cost is $12 per person. After an exciting Summit Invite Finals meet, we are entering the final weeks of the season. It feels good to finish 3rd in the Summit Invite and see some unexpected state qualifications. Let's use this momentum to focus on the final push toward conference and state.
Thursday this week, we compete against Vianney at home, and on Friday, we square off at an away meet against Parkway West. Next Tuesday, October 21, we host Oakville for our final home dual meet of the season. This is also our senior night where we will be honoring the effort and dedication of our seniors. Additionally, on October 21, we will host an informational meeting immediately after school in the pool bleachers for all girls interested in swimming or diving for the 2014-15 season. Going back to last Thursday, Oct 2--our meet against SLUH was cancelled due to the power outage caused by the thunderstorm. Right now, it looks like we will not be rescheduling the meet. If anything changes, we will let athletes and families know as soon as possible.
I apologize for not getting the lineup posted for Monday's meet and for missing the meet completely. I was home with a sick child. Additionally, the psych sheet for the Summit Invite is posted HERE. I am encouraging all swimmers to look at the competition to gauge possible outcomes and the effort needed to reach those goals. We are still looking for sponsors to help fund our new scoreboard. We have adjusted our sponsorship program to better meet the needs of our local businesses. If you would like to sponsor the Summit Swim and Dive Team, please see our FLYER. There are many options that fit the needs of any budget while still maintaining regular sponsorship recognition.
Congratulations to the Summit Swim and Dive Team for defeating Webster 130-46. What was most impressive about this meet is the number of improvements our swimmers are making. It is important to see improvements as we near the final stretch of the season--conference is a month away.
Webster meet times HERE. Top Times HERE. Lineup for SLUH meet HERE. We had a much better effort this meet than earlier. Just look at the top times and you can see all the improvement from the top down. Fantastic. This week we have division opponent Webster at home on Tuesday and SLUH at home on Thursday. The Invitational next week will be a good indicator of how much more preparation we need to be doing for Conference and Finals, which are about 5 weeks away.
Clayton meet times HERE. Top Times HERE. This meet, the upperclassmen had the opportunity to choose their events for the meet. We saw a number of personal records but I don't believe this was our best effort. We have two practice days before our meet on Friday at home against Clayton. We really need to focus our efforts these next two days so that we can put forth a strong outing Friday.
We have five weeks until Conference and six weeks until State. Kirkwood meet times HERE. Top times HERE. |
